BETEX Discussions held at San Pedro BTIA Meeting

BTIA Launches BETEX 2010 as Part of its 25th Anniversary Celebrations
At its recent AGM on December 2nd 2009, BTIA received the commitment of financial support of BZ$50,000 from the Belize Tourism Board for the 2010 BETEX show to be held from June 23 – 27, 2010. The first installment of BZ$5000 has been disbursed. BTB has supported the event financially as it is the only event that puts Belize on the international center stage in our own country.

BETEX Opening Night is Belize’s tourism event of the year. Always in attendance are Belize’s key tourism stakeholders, from newcomers to industry veterans. With cultural food displays, performances and live entertainment, the crowd of local suppliers and guests mingle with international wholesalers and travel agents for a vibrant evening filled with fun and dance.

BETEX Format enhanced with Decentralized Marketplaces

Decentralized marketplace sessions allow for more direct interaction between agents and suppliers in the destinations. Qualified Suppliers operating anywhere in Belize can select one marketplace venue for setup (either San Pedro, Placencia or Cayo). Three different groups of trade visitors will visit each marketplace each morning for three days (Days 2, 3 and 4). This rotation format will allow all suppliers the opportunity to meet all the registered trade participants in all nine groups (approximately 90 buyers and 90 supplier companies for a 1:1 ratio).

While fun and enjoyment is an important part of the BETEX experience, every year, the organizers become more strict about the quality of buyers and suppliers in order to ensure a serious business environment where participants can meet, network, negotiate and conduct business. The BETEX Admission Policy will continue to be strictly enforced to ensure that the quality of the show improves annually.
